What is a Web Based Shopping Cart?
A web based shopping cart is a simple, cost effective way to add e-commerce to any website. Rather than having to install software on your website you simply link in to a web based service.

Why was this service developed?
The service was developed after 3 Legs Ltd website designers found the current e-commerce products to limiting. Our solution was to develop our own solution that made developing e-commerce website's as intuitive and simple as possible without limiting the design of the website.

How does the service work?
It could not be simpler. Once you have input your product list in to our software, you deign your site as normal. When a customer press an order button certain information is collected. The customer can then view their basket and then choose to update the quantities or complete the order. They then enter their detail via a SSL encrypted page.

What does the monthly fee cover?
The monthly fee is a fixed charge that covers the basic usage of the service. This includes the use of our SSL certificate on the order processing pages, the web based retailer control panel, technical support and this fee also includes the product catalogue generation functionality. Since the Web Cart service is a subscription service the monthly fee also ensures that you will have access to any new functionality added to the service*.

What does the transaction fee cover?
The transaction fee is designed to cover the operational costs of the service such as servers, bandwidth etc. By using a transaction fee we are able to spread this cost based on the actual usage of the service. The transaction fee is only applied to a successful transaction, it is not charged on any failed or aborted orders. We feel that this is the fairest way of charging for this service as it means those that make the most use of the service pay for that usage level.

How do I add products from my site to the basket?
Our shopping cart systems works by using a simple html form for each product. Or you can use the product catalogue Content Management System to generate product category and product pages which are then FTP'd to your hosting package.

Can I control the look of the shopping cart pages?
Yes you can control the overall look of the pages by editing the header and footer HTML pages used to control the visual look of the pages. The actual content of the pages e.g. the cart information and the customer information are fixed by our system.

How do I get details of any orders?
Given the fact that e-mail is insecure you have an Retailer Control Panel that requires a username and password to access.

Will I have to pay for new versions of the service?
NO. As we upgrade the different services any new features will be applied automatically with no additional charge.

What Encryption do you have?
Our website is secured using a 128-Bit Thawte Digital Certificate. This ensures that all information you send to us via the World Wide Web will  be encrypted. If any other internet user intercepts the communication he/she will only be able to see it in an encrypted (garbled) form.

Does the Web Cart service provide software/service registration or Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) facilities?
While our web cart service will allow users to order and pay for such services the system can not automatically process user registrations or software downloads. To do this you will need to use either a third party service or get a custom programmed solution from 3 Legs Ltd.
